The Grass Roots Group acquires Swiss venture
The Grass Roots Group PLC has taken a foothold in Switzerland by taking a majority shareholding in motivation and events company Spectrum Events AG. The announcement comes shortly after the release of another impressive set of financial performance results from the international business improvement company.
Based in the capital of Zurich, Spectrum currently has a turnover of some 7m Swiss Francs and employs 15 people. The agency’s strength is in event management, full-service congress & housing management (PCO), as well as a long-established Inbound service (DMC). It also offers VIP-Affair (www.vip-affair.ch) a service for event-manpower (hosts and hostesses for corporate events, trade shows and exhibitions), as well as incentive and motivation products. The current client portfolio is broad and includes strength in depth with the pharmaceutical and Information Technology sectors.
David Evans, Chairman & Founder of the group, is delighted with the latest acquisition “Spectrum is an excellent business and fits very well with our existing portfolio of services for which we are seeing increasing demand for on a global scale. We are exited to have one more excellent member in our group and a new base in Switzerland”.
Managing Director of Spectrum, Daniel Tschudy was equally enthusiastic. ““ Joining Grass Roots is a perfect win-win situation for both parties. Grass Roots already serves a number of internationally active Swiss companies and can now expand its network with a Zurich base. And we can learn from their know-how and experience, introduce some of their services and products into our markets, and develop our offering globally”.
Tschudy will remain on the governing board with day-to-day management responsibility
passing to Volker Weber. Weber, who is Managing Director of Maritz in Germany,
also part of The Grass Roots Group, was instrumental in developing the relationship
with Spectrum. His management team in Switzerland will be completed by Doris
Weber (Corporate Events), Edith Wieland (Congress Services) and Roberto Carrera
(Administration).
